Coach Pierce is in his 10th year in secondary education as a Health/PE Teacher, and his 4th year at Grayson High. He is a graduate of Central Gwinnett High School and varsity basketball player where he played for Coach Melvin Sweat. Coach Pierce began his teaching/coaching career at Meadowcreek High School in 2006 working under Billy Davis. During Coach Pierce’s time at Meadowcreek the varsity boys program made it to the State Tournament 5 times, winning the Region Championship in 2007 with a 2nd place finish in 2010. Coach Pierce also led the JV team to the Region Championship in 2011. Coach Pierce arrived at Grayson High School in May 2012. Grayson posted a 13-13 record in Coach Pierce’s first season in 2013. In 2014 the team finished 22-7 and qualified for the state tournament for the first time in school history. During that season the team posted a school record for wins in a season (22), region wins in a season (11), consecutive wins in a season (17), and he was named Region 8 AAAAAA Boys Coach of the Year. In 2015 the team finished 15-11 and posted the first back to back winning seasons in program history. Coach Pierce holds a Bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern, a Master’s degree from Grand Canyon University, and a Specialist degree from Piedmont College.
