Potter, a Louisiana native, coached in Gwinnett County once previously in the mid- to late-1990s as a Buford assistant under then-coach Crystal Wood. She was an assistant at Jackson County after leaving Buford, but has spent the last 13 years as the head coach of a strong Tucker program.
The Tigers have won 20 or more games three of the past four seasons, including a Class AAAAA state championship and a 29-4 record in 2013-14 and a state runner-up finish in AAAAAA last season with a finals loss to McEachern. Tucker went 27-5 last season, and the coach said it was tough to leave that program, but she couldn’t pass up a job in Gwinnett that cuts her commute time.
